Welcome to Blood Bike Leinster
Blood Bikes are a Voluntary Medical Transport service. Since 2013 we’ve been delivering a Specialist Medical Logistical Service to the HSE Hospital groups primarily but not exclusively in the Leinster Region 365 days a year. We can operate all year round regardless of adverse weather conditions by utilising a range of specialist vehicles from our fleet.
The most rewarding aspect of Blood Bikes is through our efforts, we are able to support our HSE colleagues to make a real difference to the lives of the patient, our free services help to support our HSE colleagues by means to reinvest funds now utilised in urgent transport back into areas where it is most needed; front-line services and patient care.
As a Voluntary service our costs are funded entirely by generous private and public donations. Could you help us do more?
In some situations blood, blood products, human tissue, stem cells, minor organs and human donor milk or other medical items may need to be delivered or collected urgently from a hospital or other agency. We use an array of different types of vehicles depending on the request of the hospital, we have two and 4 wheel vehicles and a 4×4 for extreme weather conditions.
Our group was established in April 2013 with a team of dedicated local volunteers and commenced live operations in November 2013. We support hospitals and other agencies across Ireland and are fully supported by Nationwide Association of Blood Bikes (NABB) who have over 60 yr’s experience supplying a free medical service to hospitals both in Ireland and Uk.
We Blood Bike Leinster comply with EU Directive 8.2.2003/EU 3373 to promote best practice.
